Solution 1: Enabling hosting

  • Go to utilities and pick out host multi-user access from the file menu
  • In the Host multi-user access window, click Yes.

Solution 2: Configure services

  • Press the Windows key+R to open the Run window.
  • Type services.msc and press Enter. Alternatively, you can search for services.msc in the Windows search bar.
  • Under the services window, find the QuickBooksDBXX service for your version listed below:
  1. QuickBooks 2020: QuickBooksDB30
  2. QuickBooks 2019: QuickBooksDB29
  3. QuickBooks 2018: QuickBooksDB28
  • Double-click the QuickBooksDBXX service.
  • At this point set the start type to Automatic and service status to Running or started.
  • Click on the Recovery tab. From the drop-down menu for First Failure, select Restart the service. This will automatically restart the QuickBooksDB service in case it fails. Similarly, do this for Second Failure and Subsequent Failures. Click OK to save the changes. Restart your computer.

Solution 3:  Change the install location Reinstall using the default installation path

  • C:\\Program Files\\Intuit\\QuickBooks(year) (32-bit)
  • C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Intuit\\QuickBooks (year) (64-bit)

Solution 4:  Recreate QBDataServiceUserxx 

  • Close QuickBooks.
  • To open the Run Window, Press Win+R on the keyboard
  • Type services.msc, then press Enter.
  • Right-click the service that matches your version, then select Properties.
  1. QuickBooks 2020: QuickBooksDB30
  2. QuickBooks 2019: QuickBooksDB29
  3. QuickBooks 2018: QuickBooksDB28
  • Now, you need to set the service to This Account in the log-on tab.
  • Note: Do not choose Local System. Local systems work on a few set-ups.
  • Remove qbdataserviceuserXX:
  1. To open the Run window, Press Win+R on the keyboard.
  2. Type Control Panel, then press OK.
  3. Click on User Accounts, then Remove the user account.
  4. Click on the qbdataserviceuserXX, whatever your version is, and click Delete.
  • Restart QuickBooks.

Note: If hosting has been turned on, toggle to off then back on. If off, turn it on.

  • If prompted to run Database Server Manager, click OK
  • Open the Database Server Manager and scan the file to recreate the qbdataserviceuser.
